The Diary of Anne Frank is a 1959 film based on the Pulitzer Prize winning play of the same name, which was based on the diary of Anne Frank. He is 1. 0 years old at the start of the series. He was named for Eddard's elder brother, Brandon, who was brutally executed by the Mad King along with Bran's paternal grandfather Rickard Stark. He dreams of being a knight of the Kingsguard, and his favorite hobby is climbing the walls of Winterfell and using its old rooftops and passageways to get around. Bran is considered old enough to see some of the uglier sides of life, and his father takes him to see a deserter from the Night's Watch being executed. The Starks find a litter of direwolf pups and Eddard reluctantly agrees to let his children adopt them because they are the symbol of their house. Bran eventually settles on naming his direwolf Summer. King Robert Baratheon's party arrives at Winterfell, and Eddard agrees to act as the Hand of the King and accompany Robert back to King's Landing, and to take Bran, Sansa and Arya with him. While climbing a decrepit tower, he catches the king's wife, Queen Cersei, and her twin brother, Jaime, engaged in sexual intercourse. ![]()
To keep his silence, Jaime pushes him out of the tower window. While he is unconscious an assassin attempts to kill him. Catelyn struggles with the man until Summer arrives and rips out the would- be assassin's throat. Summer then stands guard at the end of Bran's bed. Bran awakens with no memory of what happened some weeks later, at the same moment as his father is forced to kill Sansa's direwolf, Lady. She offers to tell him the story of Duncan the Tall and Bran replies that he hates her stories —he prefers the scary ones. She retorts that he is a . They are interrupted by Robb, and Bran asks him if it is true he will never walk again. Bran says that he would rather be dead, to Robb's distress. He is awoken to meet with Tyrion Lannister, who has stopped at Winterfell on his way home. Out of his regard for Jon Snow, Tyrion has designed a special saddle that will allow Bran to ride despite his injuries. Luwin also suggests that Bran could learn to use a shortbow from horseback, in the manner of the Dothraki. Bran bitterly refutes Luwin's assertion that his mother will return home soon. While riding, he is attacked by wildlings led by Stiv. Robb and Theon Greyjoy defend Bran, killing Stiv and the other wildlings apart from Osha, who surrenders. Bran says farewell to Robb when he leads the Stark armies to war in response. He also tries unsuccessfully to reassure Rickon that Robb will return. He prays in the godswood for their safe return, and is joined by Osha (now a servant of Winterfell), who tells him that Robb's army is marching the wrong way and the true threat lies to the north, Beyond the Wall. Bran taunts her about her fear of the catacombs and eventually she agrees to take him down to the crypt. Bran recites the names of his deceased relatives as they pass them. They approach the place where Eddard was in Bran’s dream. There, they are startled by Shaggydog and Rickon. Rickon has also dreamt of their father in that spot. Osha and Bran go back to the surface and Osha attempts to soothe Bran’s worries about his father. As they exit the crypts, they cross paths with Maester Luwin who reveals that Eddard has been executed for treason. He dreams that he is Summer as the direwolf roams the Godswood and sees his reflection in the pond there. He has Osha accompany him out to look in the pond himself and is reassured that his waking reflection is his own. This time Summer enters his bedchamber and he sees himself awakening through the wolf's eyes. He discusses the dream with Maester Luwin who reassures him that magic has been absent from the world for centuries. She questions him further and he reveals another dream about the sea flooding Winterfell and drowning Winterfell and its people, including Ser Rodrik Cassel. She does not offer any explanation. Ser Rodrik brings news that Torrhen's Square has been besieged and Bran orders him to take the remaining garrison to relieve the siege. Theon tells Bran that he should yield the castle to protect his people. Bran reluctantly complies with a public announcement. Rodrik is captured on his return from Torrhen's Square. He insults Theon, calling him a traitor to Eddard Stark, and spits at him. Theon is pressured to execute him by his men. Theon ignores Bran's pleas and carries out a botched execution. Osha tells Bran that his dream came true; the Iron Islands (represented as the sea in the dream) have come to Winterfell. Bran escapes with Osha's help. They are accompanied by his brother Rickon, their direwolves and Hodor. Theon tracks them with hounds but loses their scent at the farm. He returns to Winterfell with two charred corpses, displaying them publicly and claiming that they are Bran and Rickon. Bran overhears Luwin telling Osha that the bodies must be Jack and Billy, the two orphan boys that he had previously assigned to assist a shepherd. The Ironborn flee and the Starks emerge from the crypts to find that their home has been sacked and abandoned. They find Luwin dying in the Godswood and he urges them to go north to find Jon Snow at Castle Black. Bran makes a tearful farewell to his mentor and they follow his last piece of counsel. Bran continues to dream about chasing the Three- eyed Raven, but encounters in his dream a strange boy, whom he later meets while awake. This is when he meets Jojen Reed and his sister, Meera. Jojen also saw the Three- eyed raven, who is apparently responsible for bringing the sight to them, and tells Bran he is a 'Warg', someone who can control the minds of animals. Osha is distrustful of the siblings. They are walking through the woods and see the three- eyed raven again. Jojen advises Bran that he must follow the raven, and when he is confused, Jojen points out that he must follow it by climbing a tree. Bran begins to climb the tree that the raven has landed in but he soon becomes terrified, remembering the fall that crippled him when he was climbing a tower at Winterfell. He sees a vivid dream- memory of his mother Catelyn, repeating her warning in which she made him promise never to climb again - a promise which he broke, and thus indirectly led to the fall which crippled him. Bran is so terrified of the memory of Catelyn yelling at him that he falls off the tree. Bran and Jojen wake in their camp in the woods, disappointed that he could not follow the three- eyed raven. Jojen Reed experiences a seizure while sleeping, and Meera explains they are caused by his visions. Jojen then tells Bran that in his vision he saw Jon Snow with the wildlings. Osha remains distrustful of Meera and Jojen Reed and reacts with horror when they mention they intend to go beyond the Wall. Osha bluntly refuses to go, explaining that she lost her husband, who then rose from the dead and tried to kill her. She rages that none of them understand what lies beyond the Wall and that there is nothing left for men there. However, Bran agrees with Jojen, arguing that the raven has been waiting for him to find him since Bran fell from the tower. The sounds of thunder terrify Hodor, who shouts out in panic. Fearing discovery, Jojen tells Bran to silence Hodor, who keeps panicking. Bran unintentionally uses his Warg powers to render Hodor unconscious. With the wildlings still outside, Jojen convinces Bran to skinchange through Summer and Shaggydog outside, who then maul to death some of the wildlings. While in control of Summer and Shaggydog, Bran saw Jon Snow outside fighting the wildlings. After this, Bran insists that he must go beyond the Wall to find the raven. However, he wants Rickon to be safe, so he tells Osha to take his brother with her to the holdfast of Greatjon Umber, a loyal bannerman of the Starks. Bran bids a tearful Rickon farewell, who leaves with Osha and Shaggydog, while Bran continues northward with Hodor, Summer and the Reed siblings. During the night, Jon Snow's fellow Night's Watch comrade Samwell Tarly, with Gilly and her child, emerge from a secret passageway. Samwell, noticing the gigantic Hodor and Summer, realizes who Bran is and offers to take them to Castle Black, but Jojen tells Sam that they are going beyond the Wall, as no force in the realm of Westeros could withstand the threat posed by the White Walkers. Sam reluctantly shows them the secret sally port and gives them the obsidian blades found north of the Wall, which he earlier used to slay a White Walker. That night, Bran, the Reeds, Hodor and Summer finally pass beyond the Wall. They wake him up which angers Bran. They warn him that if he stays in the wolf too long, he will stay in him permanently and lose everything he has ever known. Later, Summer finds a Heart tree. Bran skinchanges with it and has a vision of another Heart tree on a hill, the Three- eyed raven, his father about to be executed, a flight of ravens, White walkers and wights, including a glimpse of the Night's King, the Iron Throne sitting empty with snow falling around it, himself falling from the tower, a dragon flying over King's Landing, and finally the same tree on a hill again, all while a strange voice tells him to find him . They hear the faint sounds of a baby's cries. Bran enters the mind of Summer to investigate where he finds Ghost, the direwolf of Jon Snow. However, before he can free Ghost, Summer is caught by a trap. Chilling Horror Films You May Have Never Seen. Chilling horror films you may have never seen ! So if you’re feeling in the mood to snuggle under your covers with the lights off and the doors locked – here are 2. Note* These are not necessarily my favorite horror films, however they are some titles I would like to bring to your attention, and all come recommended by me. They will not be ranked – however the will be listed alphabetically. BABY BLUES (2. 00. A disturbing little film which shares many comparisons to Charles Laughton’s Night of the Hunter. How’s this for a twist on the horror genre – Postpartum depression. This short 8. 9 minute horror show takes place on a secluded family farm. Our mother is suffering from depression after the birth of her last child, her third. The film is her giving in and having a nervous breakdown – one like you have never seen before. From start to finish there is a sense of high tension, and it’s worth seeing for the performance by Coleen Porch as mom. This one is not neccesarily for the faint of heart, or big budget horror lover. This is a quick, violent trip into the mind of a crazed lunatic. CALVAIRE (2. 00. 4)A few days before Christmas a traveling entertainer Marc’s car breaks down on the way to a gig. Of course he is stuck on a back road in the middle of a swampy forest. He makes his way to a tiny inn to spend the night while his car is to be fixed the following day. The inn is run by the eccentric Mr. Bartel who connects with Marc, as he used to be a comedian. Of course the next day we know that “the man from town” is not coming to fix the car, and Marc is in for quite an ordeal. This horrific french film’s title actually translates to The Ordeal. And boy is this an ordeal to watch – and I mean that in a good way. Although the basic plot has been done numerous times, this flick takes many twists and turns you won’t see coming . It’s one of a few french horror films on the list. CARNIVAL OF SOULS (1. This 1. 96. 2 horror flick was a hit in drive- in movie theatres. I can only imagine this is the best place to see this film, however it still holds up over time and packs quite a creepy punch. After a drag race gone wrong, Mary washes ashore escaping her flooded car. After this she tries to carry on with her life and is stalked by a mysterious phantom and turns up at the world’s creepiest circus. This is a cult film that actually is well made on a minuscule budget. Somehow this film has been overlooked in horror’s history, which is a true shame. THE CHANGELING (1. This is a horror film that holds up insanely well over time. This one doesn’t rely on effects, gore, or any last minute twists. It is just a scary film that scared me as a kid and when I re- watched it last Halloween, it scared me as an adult. Scott stars as John Russell a composer who is dealing with the sudden death of his wife and son. To deal with the grief he rents an old mansion with plenty of room for him to write new music and get out his depression through his art. Little does he know, he is not alone. This mansion is shared by the ghost of a murdered young boy who has a plan for John Russell. This movie has a couple of scenes that actually make my blood go cold, it never disappoints in being truly scary. THE CHILDREN (2. 00. We have all seen movies about devil children (The Omen, Orphan, Villiage of the Damned, etc), but I assure you’ve never seen one as brutally scary as The Children. This UK horror never got a proper released in the US, which is a shame because its a true thrill- ride. It’s Christmas eve and a relaxing family vacation is about to take a turn for the worse. Suddenly the children seem to snap one by one and its an all out battle as the children turn on their parents in some of the most graphically “close your eyes and peek through your fingers” ways! I also believe this film has the best tag line ever: You brought them into the world. After watching Creep, I never wanted to take a subway again. Franka Potente stars as Kate. Kate is out on the London streets heading home from a party waiting to catch the last train. It’s very late and she is seemingly alone while she waits for the midnight train, but of course she’s not. She is being followed by a co- worker who has had one to many drinks and is stalking after Kate wanting to have his way with her. When he becomes violent, Kate descends into the labyrinthine tunnels to escape . This one really creeped my out. If you live in a city with a subway – watch this one at your house so you don’t have to take the train home. DEAD BIRDS (2. 00. Dead Birds is the story of a group of Confederate soldiers who have joined together to rob a bank. They make it out with the money and hole up inside an abandoned plantation to escape the towns police. As the night falls, and a storm brews, we learn that there are supernatural forces at play. This little known- of haunted house flick has moments of true scares and some very nice effects on a limited budget. It’s a different approach to the haunted- house genre which I also applaud. But after the horrible Exorcist 2: The Heretic I think most audiences and critics had given up. Part III is well worth your time. If you know anyone who has seen this film, I assure you they will tell you there is one scene where you literally jump out of your own skin! It does help to see the first film for some of this film to hit home, although its not necessary. The film surrounds Kinderman (played by George C. Scott) who is a detective on the case of the Gemini Killer. The victims in this case are connected to first film, and its not a shock because the film is directed by William Peter Blatty who wrote the book that the original was based on. This is a psychological horror film, no gory shock scenes like in the first. If you make it through this one, it packs quite a punch. I actually think its one of the scarier films on this list. FRONTIER(S) (2. 00. This french horror film is NOT for the weak stomached. If you don’t like your films wallowing in gore and gruesomeness, skip this one, because it really takes it to another level. Putting all of the blood and guts aside, it’s actually quite well- made. Taking place in France during the violent post- election riots, a gang of young thieves flee Paris to hole up in a secluded inn. What they don’t know, and we find out, is that the inn is run by a family of Neo- Natzi cannibals who have their own plans. This family run inn is lead by a deranged patriarch who is a former SS officer and Natzi war criminal. This is an effective and gruesome film that certainly is not for everyone – but if you can hack it, it’s worth your while. THE FUNHOUSE (1. 98. The Funhouse is one of my favorites of the 8. It never hit home like Halloween or Friday the 1. It all starts with a double date to the carnival for two young teenage couples. They dare one another to spend the night in the carnival’s funhouse, and of course they do it. Then they witness a brutal murder and are stalked for the rest of the picture by a crazed carny. It has all the trademarks of an 8. It’s directed by Tobe Hooper, who brought us Texas Chainsaw Massacre. There’s always been something creepy about the circus and this film takes all those things and wraps them up into one movie. GRACE (2. 00. 9)Madeline is faced with quite the dilemma, she has always wanted to be a mother more than anything, however during her pregnancy she is in a horrific traffic accident and the baby inside her has died. She makes the decision to carry the baby to turn nevertheless. In the accident she loses not only her baby but her husband as well. She continues with birth plans, which include hiring a midwife and preparing for the still birth. However, she is so determined to be a mother that something miraculous happens – the baby is born and it’s alive. The cute little girl is named Grace, and because this is a horror movie she is not your regular little girl. The film posts the question: How far would you go to have a baby? Well lets just say Madeline goes all the way! This is a creepy little Canadian horror flick featuring solid performances and a frightening story. GRAVE ENCOUNTERS (2. In the tradition of Paranormal Activity and The Blaire Witch Project, Grave Encounters brings new scares to the mockumentary horror genre. The first half plays out as a parody of those horrible “reality” shows such as Ghost Hunters where a group of “experts” travel to a haunted space and film nothing yet somehow get “REAL footage”. Well, this is what I wish would happen on one of those episodes. The “cast” of the television show Grave Encounters travel to the Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital to film it’s “ghosts”. Of course they have a fake psychic and have set up potential scenes to stand- in for the things that go bump in the night. Well lets just say that this would be the last episode of this show, as the ghost- hunters come face to face with the hospitals old inhabitants. To say this movie made me scream aloud would be an understatement. Sure, it goes a bit overboard by the time its over, but there are moments of sheer terror. This one is just out on dvd, so you too can see it. THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL (2. Although filmed in 2. Its brilliantly shot and wonderfully acted, you will think you’ve found a hidden gem from the grindhouse era that just saw the light of day on dvd. On the eve of the solar eclipse, poor college student Samantha takes a babysitting job. There is a huge mansion, there is a creepy family, but there is no baby. She will be watching the house and looking after the elderly grandma who lives on the top floor. As the night goes on she realizes she is part of something far more sinister than babysitting. Mixing a little bit of everything from the horror genre this is an exciting and creepy little film. ILS (2. 00. 6)Ils (Them) is a french film in the tradition of The Strangers. A young attractive couple share a young country home, when they are terrorized by a group of hooded young thugs. Incredibly Graphic Sex Scenes In Horror Movies (NSFW)It’s been a whole year since we looked at cinema’s most terrifying sex scenes, so we thought we’d take a look back at the most graphic sex scenes ever depicted in horror films! Obviously, everything that follows will be incredibly NSFW and contain some serious spoilers. Friday the 1. 3th (2. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed as hard in a horror movie as I did when I heard Travis Van Winkle tell Julianna Guill that her “tits were stupendous” and that she had “perfect nipple placement.” This is a ridiculous and fairly graphic sex scene! Unfortunately, the scene (pictured above) isn’t on You. Tube, but you can find it on Pornhub (shocker), so that gives you an idea of just how graphic it is. Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday. Last one from this franchise, but while Jason Goes To Hell is arguably the worst in the franchise (though I know it has its defenders), it features one of the most graphic sex scenes and kills out of all of the films (if you watch the unrated version). Antichrist. Even though it was filmed with porn star body doubles, the opening scene of Lars Von Trier’s Antichrist is still extremely graphic. Actual penetration is seen. Of course, this is nothing to the third act clitoris snipping and blood ejaculation. The actual pornographic images are censored in the below clip. It is You. Tube after all! Don’t Look Now. This sex scene between Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie is still considered graphic even by today’s standards, but it is a beautiful moment in Nicolas Roeg’s bleak and haunting film. Sal. It is a difficult film to watch, but should be required viewing for everyone (just my opinion!) Really, the whole movie could qualify for this list, but here’s a small sample of what you’re in for if you decide to put this one on: Hatchet 2. As graphic as it is hilarious, Hatchet 2 features one of the funniest deaths in all of horror history: AJ Bowen gets decapitated while having sex with Alexis Peters doggy style. After he is decapitated, his body begins convulsing, thereby hammering into Peters even harder, until she realizes she is getting penetrated by a corpse. It’s ridiculous and funny and disturbing all at the same time. Brain Damage. While it’s not actual sex, it does feature a woman’s brain being eaten by a mutant penis as she attempts to perform fellatio on him. Fun! A Serbian Film. Newborn baby rape and incest. What more do you need? A Serbian Film is one of the most difficult films I’ve ever had to watch, but I kind of love it. Start the video at the 1. This is one of the biggest spoilers on this list so if you haven’t seen the film beware! The Last House On The Left. It was a tough choice between this and I Spit On Your Grave, but in the end this one “won.” Both the original Wes Craven film and its remake feature rape scenes that are difficult to endure, but I think I have to give the edge to the remake on this one. The original makes you feel gross just because of the filming quality, but the remake (especially the unrated cut) features an extended rape scene that is absolutely grueling. Tetsuo: The Iron Man. I wouldn’t necessarily call this one graphic. The Iron Man’s body slowly morphs into metal, and in one of the weirdest scenes of the film, he discovers that his penis has become a large power drill. He proceeds to rape his girlfriend with it, killing her (obviously). Obviously, this is just a small sample of graphic sex scenes in horror movies. I didn’t even mention Species or Otto! What are some of your favorites (if that’s not too weird a question to ask)?
